Traveling by plane
I prefer to travel by train but this time I traveled by plane. This has for visiting Lithuania much more profits as the bus or train: it is cheap, if you book 2 months before department you fly v.v for only €185,--, , included all taxes and fuell charge. In my case I paid € 283,-- because i had the "move" to visit Vilnius at the same day of depart, the buss travel costs about € 190,-- and by train more as 300 euro, it is fast ( 2 hrs from Amsterdam ),it is safe, comfortable and the Vilnius airport is just as small as a bus- or railway station, no long delays to get a cab and in 10 minutes you are in the centre of Vilnius
Direct connection to and from Vilnius restored
Since the bankrupth of FlyLal in the beginning of 2008 Lithuania could be reached only via Copenhagen, Prague, Helsinki or Riga, the travel took from that moment 4 till 6 hours but......from the 4th of Januar 2010....AirBaltic is restarting the direct flight connection Amsterdam - Vilnius v.v. You can book returnflights, included airporttax from 170 euro direct at the airbaltic site but be alert that if you book directly that you have to pay 30 euro for your luggage ( same as some other companies do ), I found 1 site that includes this luggagefee: http://www.ticketdumpstore.info Nice is also that you pay, via this site less, including everything as via the basic booking at Airbaltic;)
